Sep 29, · the only issue with using Win10 (any version) on the Inspiron is the audio drivers (made by IDT, who got out of the HD audio business in Dec. and sold their HDA products off to Tempo Semiconductor Inc). the built in HD audio drivers for Win10 should be fine but the IDT HD audio drivers are a toss-up since they provide support up to Win7 only and are not guaranteed to work Estimated Reading Time: 5 mins. Semiconductor Insights: High Density NAND Flash Analysis
As we have repeatedly mentioned in our market reviews, the high growth rate of wireless
devices and consumer electronics attracted many DRAM manufacturers and they started
the battle for market share in the flash memory sector (among the last to join
worth mentioning Hynix, ST, Infineon and potentially Micron). This has already forced
“established” manufacturers to increase the density of microcircuits and start
reduce the cost of a bit of memory.
Samsung is leading the way with SBC (Single Bit
per Cell) architecture; recently conducted by Semiconductor
Insights analyzes of K9F2G08U0M microcircuits confirmed that it is indeed
the first microcircuits made using the standards of the 90nm process technology. The size
crystal – 144 mm2 (the closest competitor has 2 Gbit MLC chips,
made by Toshiba according to the 130-nm process technology – 149 mm2). Probably no one
it is not worth reminding that if Samsung produces microcircuits with SBC-architecture,
then Toshiba prefers MLC architecture.
One of the advantages of the latter architecture is the ability to increase
density using existing technological processes, and with further potential
transition to new technologies, that is, while production costs are minimal.
Toshiba recently announced that it plans to double its chip density
– by releasing 4 Gbps microcircuits using the norms of 90nm technology. If the transition
will be successful, Toshiba memory will have a cost advantage that
threatens Samsung’s leadership in the market.
In terms of density, modern NAND flash chips typically have
crystal size from 135 to 150 mm2. As a rule, manufacturers try to exceed
crystal size 150 mm2 in high density microcircuits, otherwise
this is fraught with a decrease in the number of usable microcircuits.
As for the recently analyzed SI flash memory chips,
then their characteristics are given below. It is worth noting that they are almost the same
– regardless of the type of architecture and execution options in general. With the exception of
microcircuits HY27US08121MTIB (Hynix), which at a density of 6.12 Mbit / mm2 are closer
to 1 Gbit chips. This, by the way, gives reason to assume an imminent announcement
1 Gbps chips. As one of the youngest players in the flash memory market,
Hynix has adopted a clever strategy of introducing
product 512 Mbit chips, and then – the transition to 1 Gbit solutions. Somehow
no, but the company does not yet have a market share, so to get its
part of the Hynix market will have to work hard.
