Ramtron launches 1-Mbps ferroelectric memory (FRAM) chip

Ramtron, already mentioned in our newsletter for their ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM) developments, announced yesterday that they are developing their first 1 Mbit chip. Just like the previous versions of the chips, the company’s megabit FRAMs are manufactured in compliance with the 0.35 micron technical process standards, have an organization of 128 Kbps x 8 and have an access time of 55 nm. Chip production is carried out by the company’s technology partner – Fujitsu.

As expected, trial copies of megabit chips will be available this summer, the microcircuits will be launched into mass production closer to autumn. The previous FRAM chip of the company (pictured) had a volume of 4 Kbps.
