So, the dust raised by yesterday’s announcement of mobile Intel Pentium-M processors (codenamed Dothan), made according to 90-nm technological standards and received indexes 735, 745 and 755, has settled a little and we can summarize the first preliminary results.

According to our sources, the internal structure (“filling”) of the new processors is almost identical to that observed in processors based on the Banias core, produced according to 130nm standards. However, in addition to new technological standards, there are a number of differences that I would like to note.

First of all, it is worth noting the use of Strained Silicon technology (in Russian terminology – “strained silicon”), the presence of integrated into the chip 2 MB of energy-optimized L2 cache and also an energy-optimized 400-MHz bus. Additionally, the new Pentium-M has two interesting novelties – the Enhanced Register Access Manager, which manages registers when writing / reading words of different lengths, and the Enhanced Data Pre-fetcher, an improved second-level cache prefetcher, the details of which Intel has not yet disclosed. that Intel will not develop Tejas and Jayhawk processors. As it seems to us
practice has clearly shown that intraprocessor parallelism, transparent

What’s also curious is that the same Inquirer is spreading rumors that some Intel IA-64 processors have begun to disappear from roadmaps. By the way, according to Inquirer, AMD called the cancellation of Tejas and Jayhawk “curious”, but has not yet commented.
