PT880-A ? ECS motherboard on VIA PT880
It looks like ECS is the only manufacturer
boards that produces solutions on almost all chipsets in a row. One of the last
of the board that came to the attention of the Internet media is ECS PT880-A on the VIA chipset
PT880 for Pentium 4.
What is remarkable – the board is equipped with three memory slots – of course,
while maintaining the two-channel mode of operation (I will not say about the other solutions,
but personally I managed to start in two-channel mode on three [though out of four
available] memory slots a motherboard based on nForce2 Ultra 400 – however, in all fairness
for the sake of it, I note that I did not conduct special experiments, just, as they say,
got under the arm).
Brief characteristics of the board:
- CPU socket ? Socket 478
- FSB ? 800/533/400 MHz
- Chipset bundle ? VIA PT880 / VT8237 (the south bridge controller supports
up to 4 Ultra DMA133 / 100/66 devices and two SerialATA devices)
- Memory – 3 slots for 184-pin DIMMs, DDR400 / 333/266/200 supported
- Expansion slots ? 1 x AGP 8X / 4X, 5 x PCI 1 x CNR
- Audio – 6-channel Realtek ALC655 codec (AC compatible?97 2.3)
- Net ? VIA VT6103 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet PHY
- Rear Outputs – One PS / 2 for keyboard and mouse, 4 connectors
USB, one RJ-45, LPT, two COM ports, audio port (line in / out / mic in)
- Form Factor – ATX (305×220)
- As for the set of pads, it is standard: ATX power supply and 4-pin
P4 power connector, one floppy disk drive connector, two IDE connectors, two
SATA connector, two USB 2 pads.0 (for 4 additional ports), SPDIF header,
