BIC-TCP: a new modern network protocol
According to the source, a group of researchers at the University of North Carolina (NCSU, North Carolina State University) managed to create a protocol, which they called BIC-TCP (Binary Increase Congestion-Transmission Control Protocol), capable of providing more efficient – up to 6 thousand times in an approximate comparison with DSL, bandwidth usage and better scalability.
The key point for the new technology is the use of an algorithm for finding the best network performance with minimal losses (we are talking about networks with a sufficiently high bandwidth, but in which long latency times are possible). According to the creators, what is done in TCP in a few hours, in BIC-TCP is done in a matter of minutes.
