And, what is most interesting, computer technologies not only penetrate into other spheres of human activity, but they, in turn, have an impact, suggesting unconventional ways to create new media, computing cells, etc. d. Not so long ago, we reported on the development of technology for printing biological organs using inkjet printers, but NanoMagnetics this week announced the creation of magnetic nanoparticles from ferritin protein molecules, on the basis of which high-density magnetoresistive memory cells can be created.
NanoMagnetics creates its magnetic particles, named DataInk, from hollow protein spheres of identical shape, about 8 nm in diameter. With identical size, shape and magnetic properties, the particles are embedded in carbon, which prevents them from clustering (combining). The company did not provide more technical details, saying only that the recording density could be such that 4.7 GB of data could fit on a 1.8-inch “floppy” disk.
